Happy New Year! Wow–2017 already!? It is hard to believe how time is flying by.
The hubby and I had a merry Christmas, though I was sick for a week over the holiday. Everyone says that you’re lucky to be in the second half of your pregnancy trimester in the winter since you don’t have to deal with the unbearable summer heat. But winter is cold and flu season. When you’re pregnant, your immune system is weakened AND can’t take most over the counter medicines. All of this spelled out a long, drawn out and severe cold for me this Christmas.
For me, Christmas means family time. Both my parents and my husband’s parents live nearby. My sister and brother-in-law flew in from San Francisco. Plus, my 95-year-old grandmother came into town! On Christmas Eve, my parents had a big family party. Sadly, I was too sick to go but everyone else had a good time.
Christmas Day found me feeling much better. My husband and I spend Christmas morning with his family. We ate a big breakfast, open presents and just enjoyed the morning. In the afternoon, we kept the party going by driving to my parent’s house. My family waits for us to arrive to open presents, so it is like having two Christmases in one.
I rang in 2017 in a low key way. We went out to get pizza on New Year’s Eve, then returned home to watch a movie. My third trimester started the first week in January– so I’m going through a double reality check. Not only am I trying to get back into a post-holiday schedule but the fact that baby’s due date is so close has finally hit me. 11 more weeks to go and so much to do.
I’m looking forward to making new memories in 2017– and I wish you all the best in the coming year.
Stay positive in 2017!
