I’ve been bursting at the seams (figuratively and literally) to tell you some exciting news. My husband and I are expecting a baby girl this March!
Being pregnant is a humbling adventure. The body you’ve been living in for decades suddenly becomes a foreign place. You’re favorite jeans don’t button. Your favorite food starts to literally taste garbage to you. Beyond the physical, your inner life is evolving. Things that used to seem like the biggest deal in the world (like how you look, your career, your hobbies ) get thrown out with the bath water. The compass that you’ve been using for direction your entire life morphs before your eyes. Just weeks ago, your own wants, needs and ambitions guided you. Now the needs of your child become your true north. All you care about, hope for and pray for is a healthy, happy child.
The most humbling part of pregnancy is realizing that you are growing a person. A living, breathing little human who will one day have her own little quirks and eccentricities: maybe she’ll hate ketchup or her socks will never match. This child who didn’t even exist six months ago will have her own likes, dislikes, passions, joys and sorrows. She will come into this world with her own journey to take and story to write.
All I can do at the moment is try to give her the very best start. I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
